#31 I actually DID it...

OH ME GEE! I can't believe that I actually completed at half marathon! On May 11th, 2013 I did JUST that! I have never been one for the running, I will say that right here and now. I had to run, sprint etc for sports my whole life, but to actually run just for fun or to keep in shape, that wasn't me. I would either get bored after a few miles(which STILL happens to me) or I just didn't care for it cause I never had to train for distance. But I set my sights on a half at some point. I do little 5k's and 8k's here and there and those are fine, I rock them all the time. So I thought, hmmmm...why not just just a half. So I did, I signed up in December for the Hippie Chick 1/2 Marathon in May out in the country of Hillsboro.

I started off great and running the first 7 miles at a personal best of 12 minute miles...THEN the heat came and I was NOT prepared for that. In one of the hottest few weeks that we've ever seen in May, had to be the last 10 days leading up to my first half, really?! I mean REALLY?! After the half way point there was very little shade left out on the course, THAT sucked a big one. Miles 9-11 i wanted to give up. I think other participants were looking at me like the crazy lady cause I was arguing with myself and talking myself into it that I can finish even though I wanted to give up. Well...I didn't give up, I finished that thing like a champ running through the last mile in 3 hours 12 minutes and 56 seconds. My parents were at the finish line which meant ALOT to have them there, a tear came out when I saw them, not going to lie. Cindy and Erin were there as well, Erin finished an hour ahead of me and they STILL waited for me to finish my very first half, those ladies are awesome. I can tell you i thought it was the dumbest thing I've ever done at the time, but I can honestly say I am looking forward to my next half. :)

Me about to cross the finish line!
